The Neskonlith Band will be having a special meeting at the Neskonlith Hall on Sunday, March 9, 2014 on the Secwepemc Reconciliation Framework Agreement (SRFA). The link to the document on the provincial government web page is below.
Please read the agreement and if you do not understand it please come to the meeting and find out more about the SRFA. Learn more because despite this agreement saying it does not recognize our Aboriginal Title and Rights, the agreement does impact on our Aboriginal Title and Rights.
Some Neskonlith Band Councillors would like us Neskonlith Band Members to reverse our General Band Meeting decision to reject this provincial government risk management deal.
The main thing you need to realize about this agreement is that it fully endorses provincial government 3rd party alienation of our land without recognizing our Aboriginal Title and Rights. The province gets something out of the deal but our children and grandchildren get nothing.
